Based on feedback
from OEM and IHV partners Microsoft
extended the date to June 1, 2007
for enforcement of the Audio Fidelity
tests (SYSFUND-0118 and SYSFUND-0127).
After June 1, 2007 complete and passing
audio fidelity test logs must be
provided for any submissions after
June 1, 2007. System submissions
with failing audio fidelity test
logs will no longer be allowed.
The Windows Vista Logo Program (WLP 3.0) for hardware includes two audio fidelity
requirements for Windows Vista--a Premium logo requirement (SYSFUND-0118)
and a Basic logo requirement (SYSFUND-0127)—that define the
minimum bar for audio fidelity quality on a Windows Vista PC. To validate audio
fidelity requirements in the Windows Vista timeframe, a new suite of tests has
been introduced in the DTM that require a specific piece of testing equipment,
the Audio Precision (AP) SYS-2722 audio analyzer.
This means that system vendors have the option to purchase an AP analyzer in
order to run these tests in-house, or to have the testing performed by a third-party
test house already equipped with an AP, such as SEZZO Labs.
The WLP 3.0 requirements also include audio fidelity numbers for other values
that will be tested against in future releases of the DTM. The Fidelity Test
will validate both input and output jacks on the system and will be required
to pass. Future test logs will be required to be submitted from identical systems;
this includes identical system device configuration as well. Only audio fidelity
test logs can be imported, all other tests must be run together on the primary
system under test. This is the preferred/recommended import scenario.

When Microsoft
released Windows Logo Program (WLP)
specification for Windows Vista,
it had significant impact on the
audio development and logo submission
process. Audio devices and drivers
must pass the Audio Fidelity logo
tests in order to qualify for logo
for Windows Vista. The AUDIO-0006
and AUDIO-0025 logo requirements
now show a requirements date of June
1, 2006 rather than June 1, 2007.
System logo submissions must include
an audio device and optional 3rd-party
audio driver which have passed the
audio fidelity logo tests, even though
the systems themselves do not need
passing logs until June 1, 2007.
Audio Fidelity logs including the
results from an Audio Precision test
set are required for ALL logo submissions
for Vista.
The following chart
lists the audio fidelity requirements
contained in AUDIO-0006, AUDIO-0025,
SYSFUND-0118, and SYSFUND-0127, showing
the fidelity requirements for Basic
and Premium logos. Additionally,
the Premium logo requirements have
separate sections for desktop and
laptop systems

SEZZO Labs
provides complete audio fidelity
logo testing services. WHQL logs
from can be included
with device and system submissions,
so you don't need to purchase an
Audio Precision analyzer and you
don't have to spend time training
someone to use it. |
